High-Performance Circular Knives

PRECISION CIRCULAR BLADES FROM BAUCOR
AVAILABLE IN ALL SIZES, MADE TO CUT BETTER

What are circular blades?

A circular blade is a cutting tool consisting of a metal disk with a sharp edge rotated at high speed. They are used in various applications, including cutting plastic, paper, wood, metal, and other materials. There are different types of circular blades, each designed for specific applications.

Circular blades are made from carbon steel, stainless steel, and tungsten carbide. The intended application of the blade defines the type of material used. For example, carbon steel blades are usually used for cutting wood, while stainless steel blades are better suited for cutting metal.

If precision, quality and short lead time all matter, you are at the right place. Baucor manufactures and supplies literally thousands of both standard and custom size precision circular knives and circular rotary blades for all kinds of use from slitting, cutting and perforating to rewinding. Whether you need a top and bottom or dished circular blade or a circular knife with toothed, serrated, scalloped, perforation and saw tooth forms, or even more complex tooth forms, Baucor can turn your design into a blade in just days. It doesn't matter if it's paper cutting, food slicing, packaging, rubber converting, meat chopping, film cutting or foil converting, regardless of its use, our circular knives and blades are exceptionally made from quality ground hardened tool steels and stainless steel as well as carbide.

CIRCULAR, STRAIGHT, PUNCH, AND CUSTOM BLADES

Advantages of using circular blades

There are many advantages of using circular blades:

  • More efficient to cut through materials:
Circular blades can make a cleaner cut and requires less energy than straight blades when cutting through materials.

  • Produce less waste than other types of blades:
A circular blade leaves a smaller opening than a straight blade, allowing less material to be lost during the cutting process.

  • Easier to control (more stability):
It is easier to control a circular blade because it only needs to be rotated to the desired speed and then used to cut through the material. And it is a lot easier than using a saw or a knife, which can be very difficult to control.

  • Safer to use (fewer cuts or injuries):
Circular blades are not as sharp and are not as pointy as other blades, which means that they are less likely to cause cuts or punctures.

How circular blades are manufactured?

  • Cutting:
The manufacturing process for these blades begins with cutting the desired shape from a metal sheet. This process is typically done with a CNC machine.

  • Heating:
Next, the blade is put through a process called heat treating that involves heating to a very high temperature and cooling rapidly to harden the steel and make it stronger.

  • Brazing:
An optional process that is used for welding small pieces of metal to the toothed circular blades.

  • Sharpening:
Once the desired shape of the blade has been obtained, it must be sharpened to remove any imperfections. And to create the bevel, which is the blade's sharp edge. Finally, a grinding process is used to refine the blade's edge and make it even sharper.

  • Coating:
The blade tips can also be coated with different materials to help improve resistance to wear or corrosion.
